Scholarships

Introduction

IMLS welcomes youth and children from diverse backgrounds, talents, and regions across Greater Masaka and Uganda as a whole. Many of these young people come from humble families with limited financial capacity to support their education, yet they possess great potential, strong ambition, and a desire to advance in their careers through practical training in Music, Languages, ICT, Business, and Vocational studies.

Recognizing this need, Dr. Joseph Wasswa established the Dr. Joseph Wasswa Scholarship Program to support such learners through donations from kind-hearted individuals and the reinvestment of income (Profits) generated by IMLS. These efforts aim at expanding the institution’s facilities and increasing its ability to reach a wider group of underprivileged children and youth, especially the girl child, who remains vulnerable to many life challenges.

The foundation exists to transform lives by providing access to quality, practical education that empowers young people to become skilled, confident, and self-sustaining individuals capable of living healthy, successful, and meaningful lives.

The Dr. Joseph Wasswa Scholarship Program supports talented, hardworking, and motivated children and youth who demonstrate both potential and commitment to their education. Applicants should have a strong interest or proven ability in music, including singing, dancing, or playing a musical instrument. In addition, other talents such as sports, creativity and innovation, fashion and design, cosmetology, body therapy, and related fields may also be considered. Eligible candidates must be enrolled in a study program at IMLS, with music being a key area of emphasis, and the program should run for a minimum of two years. All applicants are required to submit a Motivation Letter explaining why they wish to study at IMLS, their talent and how it will help them grow, the challenges they face, their future goals, why they need the scholarship, and how they plan to give back to the community after completing their studies. Educationally, applicants should have completed at least one of the following: Primary Level, Ordinary Level (O-Level), or Advanced Level (A-Level). Students with excellent academic performance and strong talent will receive special consideration, and outstanding performers with a CGPA of 3.5 or higher will be given top priority. Finally, applicants must demonstrate a clear willingness to give back to the community, using the skills they gain to positively impact others.

Applying for the Dr. Joseph Wasswa Scholarship Program involves several key steps.

First
Applicants must enroll in a Certificate or Diploma program at IMLS in Music, ICT, Business, or any other technical program; short courses are not eligible.

Next
Applicants should physically obtain and complete the scholarship application form, providing accurate information.

Applications will then be carefully reviewed, and eligible candidates will be shortlisted for the next stage.

Shortlisted applicants will undergo an interview to assess their motivation, talent, and potential. Finally, a background and credibility check may be conducted to verify the authenticity of the applicant and confirm eligibility for the scholarship.

You can apply during any of the following intakes: January, March, and August. Applications are handled on a first-come, first-served basis, so early applicants are given priority. Submitting a scholarship application is completely free of charge and open to all eligible students.
